Abstract

224,566. Aldred, W., and Millnes, T. May 12, 1923. Commutators. - Relates to commutators for continuous-current machines in which the segments are built up in the form of two rings, the segments of each ring being in stepped relationship with those of the other ring, and the segments of one ring being provided with a projection engaging with the segments of the other ring. According to the invention, the peripheral portion of the segments a, b are in contact on a vertical face formed by the projections t<1> on one ring of segments, the remaining portions of the commutator face being filled in with insulation c. The armature coils are connected to bolts h which pass through both segments a, b. Broad brushes are employed. The commutator is detachably mounted on the armature shaft by bolts k.
