Abstract

239,549. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Kelso, N. T.). Sept. 8, 1924, [Convention date]. Alternating-current motors. -Alternating-current commutator motors are provided with a commutator short-circuiting device comprising a short-circuiting ring 12 mounted on a plate 14 and held out of axial contact with the commutator 11 by a spring 15, centrifugal weights 16 - - 18 being guided by an annular abutment 20. The members 14, 20 have recesses 21, 22 and the weights, which are shown as segments, are slotted as at 23. The weights are constructed in sections 26-28, Fig. 5, the middle sections 27 having wide slots for the reception of shoulders 25 on pivoted members 24 which are also provided with tongues for engaging the members 14, 20. As the motor speeds up, the members 24 straighten out and exert an axial pressure upon the short-circuiting member.
