Abstract

230,856. Forges et Ateliers de Constructions Electriques de Jeumont. March 17, 1924, [Convention date]. Commutators and collecting-rings; brushholders.-A contact device effecting connection between two conductors or two series of conductors, applicable to commutators and slip-rings for dynamo-electric machines &c., comprises a. rigid block 1 bearing upon the two conductors 2, 3 under the action of a spring 5 between the block and a suitable support 4, which may for example be one of the conductors. The block has an external regular curved surface at each end at which the pressure is concentrated upon a line which is a generator of the surface and no flexible connection is provided between the contact block and either of the conductors. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the invention, which was not limited in regard to the form of the ends of the block, was applicable to dynamoelectric machines. Fig. 7 (Cancelled) shows an application to a commutator and the modification according to Fig. 8 (Cancelled) was stated to be adapted for slip-ring collectors or commutators. In this Figure a solid of revolution 1 is journaled on an axis 12 in a shank 13 which slides vertically under control of a spring 5 in a stationary member 4. The surfaces of the member 1 roll upon the conductors 2, 3. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
