Abstract
105,165. Crompton & Co., and Pensabene, N. June 27, 1916. Commutators.-In a double-commutator machine, the connecting- strips S between the outside commutator C<1> and the armature winding W<1> are passed through the insulation between the bars of the commutator C, which is connected to a second armature winding W. Alternatively, the strips S may pass through holes in the bars of the commutator C. The commutator C may be recessed as shown in Fig. 2. The invention is applicable to continuous-current high-voltage machines. Four independent armature windings connected to four separate commutators arranged in pairs at each end of the armature may be used.
