[Class 35.] Coils ; windings.-In a direct-current generator armature having more than two superimposed coil sides per slot, the number of conductors in series between consecutive commutator connections is not uniform throughout the winding. In the form shown, the conductors side-by-side in the slot are in parallel but may be connected to alternate commutator segments ; in the fourconductor coil sides L, K there are four conductors in series between consecutive commutator segments, two of these conductors being in other slots, whereas there are only two conductors in series between successive connections when connecting up the twoconductor coil sides C, D. The coil sides having the lower number of conductors are placed at the bottom of the slot.
