Abstract

158,328. Rohman, H. D. Oct. 29, 1919. Addition to 145,120. Systems of charging galvanic batterics. - Relates to electric installations for lighting, heating, or ventilating railway carriages, or for similar purposes, in which axle-driven dynamos and storage batteries are employed. The invention is a modification of that comprised in the parent Specification. The dynamo A, which has a slipping belt drive, is connected to an automatic cut-in and cut-out switch D, storage battery B, lamps or other translating devices C and automatic charge-reducing switch E, all as in the prior specification referred to. The present invention employs a device F which comes into action after the charge-reducer under the influence of a shunt coil 6, closes contact 19, 20 and short circuits a part 21 of the resistance that was previously brought into use by the charge reducer. The effect is to divert so much more power into the resistance shunt that the battery "floats" across the terminals of the dynamo. Specifications 7470/10 and 114,332 also are referred to.
