Abstract

132,519. Mauron, F. Sept. 10, 1918, [Convention date]. Lighting systems; regulation, automatic systems and apparatus for; systems of charging galvanic batteries. - In an electric supply system using a variable-speed dynamo D and a battery B, the generator voltage is controlled by a fieldregulator I having a shunt coil M and a series circuit the resistance R by overlapping some or all of the contacts by means of the flexible metal band P. The coil M is in series with a coil s and a resistance W<1>. Assuming the load switch J is open and the battery is on charge, the current passes to the battery through the regulator coil N and a coil v, which opposes the action of the coil s. At the end of the charge, when the voltage is high and the current low, the switch lever H is attracted by the coil s, and the parts 1, 2 of the resistance W<1> are short-circuited at the contacts e ; the coil M is then energized sufficiently to insert resistance into the field circuit and stop charging. When the load is switched on, a coil T in shunt to the load circuit controls the lighting-current by means of the resistance R'. A coil t, also across the load circuit, acts on the switch lever H' to place a resistance K in parallel with the regulator coil N, and to close the contacts f, so as to short-circuit the part 2 of the resistance W<1>. The exclusion of this part of the resistance from the circuit of the coil M enables the generator to supply the load, and, if necessary, charge the 'battery at a slow rate. To ensure that the contacts e are open when the load is on, the switch lever carries a projection m which moves the lever H to the open position and opens the short circuit around the two resistance parts 1, 2.
