Abstract
240,658. Gates, P. J. Oct. 17, 1924. Charging batteries.-A switchboard is arranged to provide a series of series-parallel circuits in which accumulators of various sizes may be simultaneously charged, the smaller ones taking part of the current through the larger ones. The circuit illustrates as follows : Cut-out B, ammeter C, rheostat J, battery circuit X<1>, branching thence through switches E, F to battery circuit X<2> (with rheostats G<1>, H) and battery circuit X<3>, thence branching similarly through battery circuits X<4> and X<5>, and from the latter branching agadn through battery circuits X<6> and X<7> to rheostat J<1> and negative lead by which battery circuits X<2> and X<4> is also connected to cut out R. The switches E, F. and corresponding switches enable an ammeter D to be placed in circuit with any accumulator, and certain or all batteries have a switch e.g. A so that the circuits may be maintained in their absence through the re-adjusted resistances. Specification 194,480 is referred to.
