Electrical systems, automatic. - In order to prevent the flow of direct current for the power supply through alternating-current signalling- apparatus, apparatus offering a high resistance to direct current and a low resistance to alternating current is connected in series with the alternating- current apparatus. This may be a condenser, or a small motor-generator for applying a counterelectromotive force, or preferably one or more electrolytic cells each comprising a pair of similar electrodes immersed in an electrolyte to which they are chemically inert. The preferred cell has carbon electrodes in dilute sulphuric acid.
