Abstract
206,797. Kotera, S. June 20, 1923. Electrodes.-A porous copper electrode is made by precipitating copper from a solution of a copper salt such as copper sulphate by means of scrap-iron, making an amalgam of the precipitated copper with mercury and then heating the amalgam to about 600 C. to drive off the mercury. The porous copper so obtained may be employed in conjunction with a zinc electrode in a viscous solution of an alkaline hydrate. It may also be used in secondary cells.
