Abstract
948,428. Charging and discharging batteries. SOC. DES ACCUMULATEURS FIXES & DE TRACTION. Dec. 3, 1962 [Dec. 13, 1961; March 3, 1962], No. 45690/62. Heading H2H. The end cells 2, 3 of a battery 1-3 are arranged in two equal parallel paths such that the combined capacity of cells 2 and 3 is equal to that of the cells 1, the load being drawn from terminal 6 or 7 and terminal 1. A control circuit is connected across terminals 6, 7 which may merely indicate the state of discharge by means of a lamp, relay or transistor amplifier which may have a rectifier 12 in series with one of the electrodes to give a minimum threshold voltage, or may control a relay circuit to change the load connections between terminals 6, 7 when one group of end cells is charged or discharged. Several groups of cells 2, 3 may be provided for each group 1.
