Abstract

268,063. Middleton, R. J. Jan. 4, 1926. Charging and discharging batteries.-Apparatus for charging accumulators from the mains wherein there is a short-circuiting switch across the charging terminals is also provided with terminals for connecting to the mains and terminals for connection to a lamp or other device. The terminals 14-15 connect up to the mains and 7, 7<a> to a lamp, the terminals 15, 7<a> being connected by a wire 26 whilst the terminals 14, 7 are wired to terminals 11, 12 across which a bridge piece 13 can be inserted by a switch 10. The accumulator is coupled by leads 22, 25 to charging terminals 18, 23 that are wired to the terminals 11, 12. As shown the current flows through the lamp and accumulator, but with the piece 13 in contact with the terminals 11, 12 the accumulator is cut out.
