Abstract
279,912. Bernon, L. M., and Walker, R. J. Dec. 22, 1926. Valves controlled by pilot or relay valves.-The feed valve 2, Fig. 1, of a boiler &c. is operated by a doubleheaded piston 5, the movement of which is controlled in accordance with the water level in the boiler by regulating the escape of the water leaking past the piston heads. A bucket float 12 in a vessel 9 in free communication with the boiler operate through a pivoted lever 16 oppositely mounted sliding valve 18, 19 controlling the escape of water from the ends of the cylinder 4 containing the doubleheaded piston. Feedwater from the inlet side of the feed valve is admitted to the, cylinder between the piston heads through a pipe 3. In a modification, the spindles of the sliding valves 18, 19, Fig. 2, are pivoted to the, opposite arms of a lever 28 pivoted to a cranked arm 24, which is secured to the mouth of the bucket float 12. The cranked arm is connected by a pivoted link 27 to a fixed central rod 25.
