Feed-water, controlling.-In a feed-water regulator comprising a thermostatic tube in communication with the boiler above and below the water level, the movements of the free end of the tube are transmitted to the feed-valve bv a pair of connected levers, the fulcrum point of each of which is connected by tension rods to the fixed end of the tube. The thermostatic tube 1 secured at one end to a fixed support 29 has its free end 2 pivoted to a lever 14, the pivot point of which is connected to the support 29 by a rod 15. The long arm of the lever 14 is pivoted to the short arm of a lever 17, the pivot point of which is connected to the support 29 by rods 13. The long arm of the lever 17 is connected to the feedvalve 20 by a chain. The height of the support 29 may be adjusted by a screw 27, and the length of the rod 15 may be adjusted by a stressing- screw 26. Condensed steam is returned from the upper end of the tube through a pipe 34 and the boiler pipe 7. The parts of the boiler pipes have rotary connections, and each pipe may be connected to the boiler by a double pair of elbows.
