Abstract

242,170. Yarrow, H. E. April 17, 1925. Patent abandoned on opposition. Feedwater, controlling.-The feed supply to a boiler is regulated by a pair of expansion tubes arranged at the normal water level and inclined in the same direction, operating the feed valve by the sum of the expansions of the two tubes. The tube A is fixed at its lower end in a bracket B, and its upper end is free to slide at C. The upper end of the tube A<1> is fixed at B', and its lower end is free to slide at C'. The upper and lower ends of the tubes are connected to the steam and water spaces of the boiler respectively. The two free ends of the tubes are connected to a lever E, the tube A at H<1>, and the tube A<1> by a link F at G<1>. The lever E operates the valve J. In a modification, one tube may be within the other.
