Abstract

Sept. 10, 1929. feedwater, supplying and controlling.-The supply of boiler feedwater is controlled by apparatus comprising a closed tank 1 connected to the steam and water spaces of the boiler, a float 8 and a conical-faced valve 6 carried by a pivotal arm 7, a reciprocating pump which includes a steam cylinder 10, with exhaust pipes 12, a piston 13 having steam passages 14 at its ends adapted to register with one or other of the branches of a, steam inlet pipe 9 and a water chamber 16 having a supply pipe 20, valves 18, 19, and a plunger 17 arranged at the end of a piston rod 15. On a fall in water level steam is admitted to the pump which forces water into the boiler through a pipe 21 until the float valve 6 closes the pipe 9.
