Abstract
185,453. Cowlishaw. Walker. & Co. (1920), Ltd., Lovett, W. H., and Dobbs, A. E. April 29, 1921. Feed-water, controlling. -In a feed-supply regulator of the kind in which a float-valve device controls the passage of steam or other fluid to a cylinder containing a piston connected to the feedvalve, the valve member of the device is a hollow cylinder with closed ends and circumferential ports. The rotary valve member a has ports b, c, which register with passages j, k in a plug h, the passages opening into the inlet and outlet connections i<2>, i<3>. The plug may be partly rotated so as to vary the operative level of the water in the float-chamber. The longitudinal thrusts on the valve member and the valve spindle l are balanced by placing their ends in communication with the interior of the float-chamber through passages h', g, g<2> and m<2>.
