446,864. Float - actuated valves. KINNES, G., 5, Alfred Street, Cape Town, South Africa. May 28, 1935, No. 15504. [Class 135] A float valve for cisterns and the like in which the valve member 9 is opened by the float against the water pressure in the supply pipe 7 is provided with an air chamber 21 non- removably secured to the valve casing, for example, by brazing, at a point opposite the water inlet to prevent " water-hammer " due to sudden closure of the valve. The air chamber may be in the form of a U-tube as shown closed at its outer end 22, or this end may open into a closed cylindrical or spherical vessel.
