Liquid-pressure engines. - In self-driving devices, water or other liquid under pressure passes from a tank a alternatively to two cylinders b, c whereby pistons d are driven. The air forced from the cylinders by the pistons is stored in a tank m and ultimately drives a turbine o. The water &c. from the cylinders b, c passes to the tank a by a pump m driven by the turbine o. The valve f controlling the supply of water &c. to the cylinders may be operated by a crossed belt q driven by a pulley h which may be rotated or oscillated by ratchet and pinion gearing or levers and links driven from the piston rod i.
