Abstract
143,812. Hansen, J. H. Jan. 20, 1920. Engines with cylinder and generator forming one chamber. - Relates to single-acting engines which may be employed for the propulsion of vehicles. The lower end of the cylinder is heated by a lamp &c., and the steam is instantaneously generated from water supplied by gravity to a sprayer 8 from a tank under the control of a valve 9 actuated by an eccentric on the crank-shaft. The exhaust valve 5 is actuated by a second eccentric on the crank-shaft. A non-return valve 13 in the water-supply pipe prevents the ejection of water should pressure be generated in the cylinder before the valve 9 is closed.
