Abstract

183,971. Horne, H. W. May 30, 1921. Compound engines. - Steam is admitted by the valve 10 and ports 8 to the upper side of the piston 1; after expansion the valve connects the upper side of the piston to the chamber formed within it by the auxiliary piston 2. The low pressure steam then acts on both pistons finally escaping ports 13, 14 in the pistons and cylinder.
