[Class 7 (ii).] Cooling cylinders ard exhaust.-Steam or hot water is injected into the working cylinder when a valve h is opened by an engine-driven cam i, which may be thrown out of gear at starting by rotation of a handle q. The water space a around the cylinder is thin so that the cooling water is quickly heated and the steam formed is conveyed to the valve h by jacket f round the exhaust pipe, and a pipe g. Further hot water is provided by condensing out the moisture from the exhaust gas in a condenser e, a pump o drawing the condensate from a purifier n and forcing it, through a pipe coiled round the exhaust pipe d, to the jacket/.
