Abstract

210,637. Backhaus, H. Feb. 20, 1923. Exhaust, treating.-The, exhaust is divided into two parts; the first passes to a reservoir closed by a non-return valve for further use; the second goes to the atmosphere or to a condenser which may be relatively small. The exhaust first passes through a contracting and expanding nozzle 2 and valve 3 into a reservoir, the pressure in which is greater than the back-pressure on the engine, until its pressure falls and the valve 3 is automatically closed; the remaining exhaust then passes through a space 5 to the atmosphere or a condenser.
