Abstract

315,588. Zarlatti, F. Aug. 1, 1928. Starting.-A low-pressure pump 2 supplies air at about two atmospheres pressure to the cylinders of a Diesel engine ; the engine may be started by placing the valve 19 in the position shown, when the pump acts as a motor with steam as its motive fluid, the pipes 10, 11 acting as exhaust pipes and the engine drawing air from the atmosphere through the pipes 12, 17.
