Regulating.-In a four-stroke engine in which the cylinders are provided with closed ends forming pump chambers for compressing air or mixture, the delivery pressure from the pump chambers is controllable by adjustable by-pass cocks 25 as described in Specification 207,511, these cocks being arranged in return pipes 24 connected to the delivery pipes 22, 27 near to the pump chambers.
