Abstract

277,089. Silver Springs Bleaching & Dyeing Co., Ltd., and Hall, A. J. June 8, 1926. Yarns, stretching; hanks, treating.-The resistance of cellulose acetate silk in the form of yarns, skeins, &c. to hot or boiling aqueous liquors in increased by stretching the fully set and finished silk filaments beyond their elastic limit; the stretching may be assisted by pretreatment of the silk with swelling-agents, such as acetone, alcohol, formaldehyde, or glycerine; a stretch of 15-25 per cent. is suitable. Threads so treated retain their lustre and do not become curly or wool like in boiling water. Specifications 206,113, [Class 120 (i), Spinning, Preparation &c. for], and 246,879 are referred to.
