190,881. British Research Association for the Woollen & Worsted Industries, Ltd., and Bliss, H. J. W. Nov. 22, 1921. Yarns stretched to enhance shrinkability.-In modifying yarns composed chiefly of wool or hair, to produce fancy or shaped effects in hosiery or ether fabrics made therefrom, the yarn is wetted or moistened, stretched not less than eight per cent of its length in moistened condition and then thoroughly dried while under tension. Its power of shrinking is thus enhanced. The yarn may be heated by steam while in a moist stretched condition, thus producing a yarn of greater permanent length or higher count.
