Locking nuts. - A washer C of lead &c. is forced into an undercut channel.E in the nut B, into depressions H in the work or in an auxiliary washer and into the bolt-threads and grooves G or flats on the bolt. The channel E is formed with two annular angular ridges T, S. The head J, Fig. 5 of a bolt may be secured in a similar manner, depressions and notches N, 0 being provided in the side and bottom of the channel E. A nut K, Fig. 2 is secured by a lock-nut L having an annular groove F the washer C being pressed into grooves or flats on the bolt. In order that deformation of the washer mav be facilitated it may approximate to its final form.
