Abstract

207,907. Hinton, J. C., and Davies, H. W. Sept. 18, 1922. Locking nuts.-A lock-nut comprises a split screwthreaded conical central body 1 which is accommodated in a conical seating in the nut proper 2. Hexagonal facets are provided on the two parts of the nut to prevent relative rotation. The locking action is produced automatically as the nut is screwed down owing to the central portion 1 being drawn down by the bolt and consequently compressed on to the threads thereof. Means comprising a split-ring, strip of sheet metal, &c. are provided to keep the two parts of the nut together. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 8389/98, 12778/12, 130,910, and 149,489.
