Abstract

226,764. Lester, J. P. P. Oct. 24, 1924. Locking nuts.-A nut 7 is locked to a bolt by a washer 8 having a cross-piece 9 which engages in radial slots in the outer face of the nut. The bolt is split axially, internally tapped, and expanded into engagement with the inner periphery of the washer by a locking screw 10. The screw 10 may be provided with a bush 11 and may enter the bolt axially or transversely. The washer may be formed with radial extensions which are bent over to engage facets of the nut, or may have projecting lugs on these extensions which engage in radial slots in the face of the nut.
