Locking nuts. - A nut is locked by a copper or other softmetal washer shaped so as to lie in an annular groove c and a serrated recess d in the bearing-face of the nut a, Fig. 2. The washer is deformed by pressure and locks against the threads of the bolt. The washer may be placed above the nut and receive pressure from a second nut, or as shown in Fig. 4, a washer k may be shaped to engage grooves and recesses in two nuts g, h.
