Abstract

239,721. Cole, E. Z. Oct. 7, 1924. Locking nuts.-A nut 1 having teeth 2 on its outer face is locked to a bolt 3 by a split spring-washer 5 one end 6 of which engages the ratchet teeth 2 on the face of the nut. The washer 5 has internal lugs which engage in spline grooves 4 in in the bolt and is held up to its work by a disc 8 having similar internal lugs and also having resilient teeth 10 which engage the bolt threads and prevent retrograde movement. The disc 8 is slidably mounted on the bolt, the teeth 10 allowing the bolt threads to pass thereunder until it contacts with the washer 5. In a modification the disc and washer are combined.
