Abstract

221,456. Eklund, O. A. June 2, 1924. Locking nuts.-A selflocking nut comprises am unthreaded nut 2 surrounding a sleeve 6 through which the ends 5, 9 of a spiral spring 4 within the sleeve project. Slots 8, 11 are provided in the nut 2 which allow the ends 5, 9 of the spring a limited movement. On screwing home the nut the rear end of the slot 8 will engage the end 5 of the spring and expand the coils until the base of the sleeve 6 engages the work. By turning the nut in the reverse direction the lock is released owing to the end 9 of the spring engaging the. rear end of the slot 11.
