Abstract

173,980. Heard, W. H. Jan. 27, 1921. Locking nuts.-A nut H is locked to a bolt C by means of a U-shaped piece of resilient metal A, the outer portion of which engages in a longitudinal slot in the end of the bolt while the ends of the legs are accommodated in radial slots G in the nut. The inner sides of the legs are provided with projections or serrations which engage the threaded portion D of the bolt. The centre portion of the U-shaped member is curled &c. to give additional resilience and to facilitate removal by a chisel &c.
