Abstract

278,439. Hartley, W. July 8, 1926. Locking nuts.-In a lock nut in which a spring- pressed, pivoted member 10 has a knife-edged tooth 18 which engages the bolt thread and prevents backward movement of the nut, the tooth 18 is formed as shown in Fig. 3 to engage the sides of the thread only. The member 10 extends over at least half the facets of the nut to be disengaged by a spanner when unscrewing the nut. The Provisional Specification describes teeth 18 which engage only the apex, or both the apex and sides, or more than one turn of the thread.
