Abstract

209,131. Smart, R. C. Nov. 7, 1922. Locking nuts. - A two-part lock-nut device of the type in which one part is split has a conical extension which enters a corresponding recess in the other part and is thereby compressed to form a lock, by gripping the threads of the bolt, has a helical surface on the split portion 1 and a conical surface on the part 2 to increase the locking action by causing a longitudinal pressure on the bolt threads as the device is screwed up. An annular groove 3 is provided in the part 2 to facilitate the longitudinal distortion of the part 1.
