Paper and like bags, making. - A device for applying reinforcing tape to articles such as bags comprises a tape-roll 11 from which the tape passes over paste-applying discs 15 and thence to a folder 20 by which it is folded on either side of the material 23 preparatory to being stitched by a sewing-machine 24 and pressed by rolls 27, 28. The folder consists of a plate having edge-flanges 21, the edges of the plate being approached till they are closely adjacent, as shown in Fig. 5. The folder is arranged at one edge of a table 18, on which are laid the bags to be reinforced. A cutter is arranged after the sewing-machine to sever the tape between the bags.
