392,450. Strengthening edges of sheet material. SCHOENING, H., 23, Franziskanerweg, Frohnau, Berlin. Nov. 4, 1932, No. 31174. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1931. Drawings to Specification. [Class 16.] The edge of a paper or like sheet is reinforced by means of a composite strip consisting of a strip of thin paper and a strip of woven or like fabric attached to the sheet by means of adhesive. The composite strip may be doubled over the edge of the sheet, or a separate strip may be applied on each side, and to assist in the retention of the strip or strips the sheet, especially when made of oil-paper, is perforated near its edge. The thin paper and woven fabric may be united together and to the sheet by a solution of guttapercha, rubber, or the like and benzene or benzol ; this solution remains tacky for a long time without requiring heat or moisture.
