[Class 16.] The composite strip which is applied by adhesive to the edge of a paper or like sheet as described in the parent Specification now comprises a strip of woven or like fabric having a coating thereon produced by applying an organic solution or liquid mixture adapted, when set, to produce the coating, the solidification occurring before the strip is applied to the sheet. The coating may be produced by a solution of cellulose, nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, caoutchouc, guttapercha, casein, gelatine, or animal or vegetable glue. Where the substance is not adequately waterproof when set, a hardening agent, such as formaldehyde or alum, may be added to the solution.
