Abstract

270,925. Assendelft de Coningh, K. D. van. Aug. 14, 1926. Air-heating furnaces .-In air-heaters comprising a furnace 6 and two groups of vertical smoke tubes 1, 3, the tubes communicating at their lower ends with the furnace 6 and a smoke-box 8 respectively and at their upper ends with a connecting casing 7, and in which air is adapted to flow around the tubes, secondary air is supplied to the lower part of the jacket 10 surrounding the groups of tubes 1 communicating with the furnace. The secondary air enters openings 17 controlled by doors 18, passes through a space 19 above the arch-plates 15 of the furnace and enters the jacket 10 at 20. Cold air may also be sucked in through openings 21 controlled by doors 22 to mix with the hot gases before they enter the tubes 1. The air to be heated enters through a perforated portion 11 of the jacket 10, is baffled by plates 12 and passes out at 14. Covers 23 close openings for cleaning the smokebox 8, which communicates with a chimney 9. A flame-distributor 24 is located at the rear end of the combustion chamber.
