Abstract
265,276. Bartolotti, M. Nov. 2, 1925. Stays.-The hinged lid of a cabinet, box, or other article is held in the open position by a stay c which co-operates with two gravity-controller members, the member k deflecting the end of the stav into engagement with the member j as the lid is being raised; further raising of the lid releases the stay end from the catch j, when the lid is free to be closed. The stay is hinged at c<1> to the lid b and its lower end is guided in a slotted member g secured to the receptacle a, a pin i limiting the upward movement of the lid. The hinged member k engages with a hook e on the end of the stay when the lid is raised and then deflects the stay in its upward movement so that the extension f engages with the pivoted catch j. The lid is then held in the open position and the member k falls back into its initial position. On raising the lid further, the stay moves away by gravity from the catch and the lid may then close freely.
