Catches, gravity.- Relates to a loading skip a with inclined bottom a<1>, hinged door c, and a catch device which automatically locks the door when the skip is lifted and is disengaged by contact with any fixed obstruction when the skip is lowered, e.g., into a ship's hold. The catch device comprises a pivoted weighted lever b, i, supported from the bottom a<1> of the skip and engaging with the door c at or near the lower front edge.
