Abstract

491,775. Smokers' ash-receptacles. MICROVERNIER, Ltd., CHESTON, A. S., and STRETCH, D. April 22, 1938, No. 12050. [Class 130] An ash-receptacle 3 is pivoted at 4 to a bracket 1 provided with side wings 2 and with a pivoted cover 5, which normally closes the upper end of the receptacle and has a stop 10 at its forward edge for retaining the receptacle in an open inclined position for use. On lifting the cover, the receptacle can be turned about its pivot 4 for emptying. The cover may be controlled by a spring 9 or a weight, so that the edge 11 of the receptacle rides under the chamfered lower edge of the top 10 on closing, and the front edge 12 projects above the front edge of the cover to facilitate opening. The receptacle may be detachable from the bracket, pivot pins 4 on the receptacle being engaged in inclined open slots on the bracket.
