Producers; coking processes. - In obtaining carburetted water gas alone or mixed with coal gas a mixture of oil vapour and steam is introduced into the fuel in an externally heated retort or producer at a zone where the temperature is 700‹ to 900‹ C. The producer 1 is heated by flues 2, steam is introduced at inlets 8 and oil or tar vapour and steam at nozzles 9 at a zone of the above mentioned temperature. Soot depositing on the coke is gasified therewith. Coke or coal may be employed in the apparatus, and the oil vapour and steam may be superheated before being fed into the apparatus.
