235,087. Rude, J. Nov. 21, 1924. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Producers. -- In the production of carburetted water gas as described in Specification 218,925 and 227,726, a separate hot zone is maintained within the fuel preheating retort bv air blast, and oil is sprayed into this zone during the " run." The oil is admitted by pipe u and sprayers v and the charge in the retort b is heated by combustion during the " blow " with air from inlets y and pipe x, the producer gas thus formed passing downwardly and escaping through the main outlet f. The oil is gasified by contact with the hot zone thus formed. When bituminous fuel is used, the gas outlet t is opened only during the " runs." If coke is substituted for bituminous fuel, the oil sprayers are preferably arranged above the air inlets y, and the whole of the blow gases' may ascend to the outlet t.
