Abstract
260,402. Pneulec Machine Co., Ltd., and Pritchard, P. Sept. 28, 1925. Spark arresters.-Closed-top cupola or like chimney is provided with lateral openings 3 near its upper end for communication with the spark arresting chamber or chambers 6, which surround the chimney and have parts or openings 8 forming passages for the gases to compartment or compartments 7. The compartments 7 are open to the atmosphere. A casing 4 surrounding the ported part of the chimney is divided by radial walls 5 into eight compartments, four of which comprise the collecting chambers 6. The other four compartments 7 are open at their tops and communicate through ports 8 beneath the walls 5 with the chambers 6. The ports 3 open into the upper ends of the chambers 6. The top of the chimney is closed by a domeshaped member 2, comprising a steel plate lined with fire bricks. Doors 9 are fitted in the outer wall of the collecting chambers to facilitate the removal of deposited matter. Openings may, however, be provided in the bottom of the chambers 6 to allow the deposited matter to pass down inclined passages to a vertical tube.
