257,887. Schloemann Akt.-Ges. Sept. 2, 1925, [Convention date]. Squirting; bullet-piercing.-In a hydraulic extrusion press for the production of seamless tubes of metal or other plastic material, of the type having a piercing-mandrel operated independently of the main ram, the piercing cylinder and ram are arranged inside the main ram so that the length of the piercing ram is considerably reduced. In Fig. 2, the billet a is first pierced by a mandrel i operated by a cylinder d arranged within the main ram g and having a stationary ram k. The main ram is then moved forward to extrude the tube f through the die h. In a modification, Fig. 3, the piercing-cylinder l is stationary and the piercing-mandrel is actuated by the ram e.
