Sqirting.-Relates to extrusion presses with a stationary hollow ram 1 carrying the die 3, a movable container 7, and a press plunger 5, and consists in using .one or more distance-pieces located in the path of the moving parts so that the working stroke of the press corresponds to the length of billet 4 to be extruded. If the container and ram are both shortened to correspond to the reduced length of billet, as shown in Fig. 2 applied to the extrusion of tubes, a distance-piece 13 is arranged on the end of the plunger 5, but when the container 7, Fig. 3, only is shortened, two distance-pieces 18, 20 are used one between the fixed abutment 2 and container 7, the other on the end of the plunger 5.
