Abstract
1,105,366. Extruding. SCHLOEMANN A.G. 2 Dec., 1965 [2 Dec., 1964], No. 51290/65. Heading B3P. In a four-column extrusion press with a rotary or transversely slidable die carrier 11 and a billet container 9, Fig. 1 (not shown), movable axially by hydraulic rams 3, 4 mounted on the press bolster 1, a saw 24 for severing the discard is mounted for sliding movement on the bolster in a direction perpendicular to the die carrier. A second rotary carrier 20, Fig. 1 (not shown), carries pressure plates 19 for the die assembly; both carriers are rotatable about a common axis 21. A locking device 14 locates the die carrier during extrusion. The rotary saw 24 is driven through belt 39 by a motor 38 and is slidable in guides 27 by an hydraulic ram 30. A hood 45 is provided for the saw and engages the die carrier for limiting the stroke. A shear device 46, 47 is also provided.
