Abstract

1282543 Extruding SCHLOEMAN AG 6 Feb 1970 [21 Feb 1969] 5923/70 Heading B3P An extrusion press has a die changing carrier 3 on its front platen 1 and a looking means composed of at least one pivoted finger 13 to prevent axial and rotational movement of the carrier during extrusion. The fingers are pivoted about axes 12 parallel to the press axis by hydraulic units 21, 22. The die carrier 3 has segment sections 9 to prevent rotation of the dies in the carrier. The segments have a concave surface engaged by a finger. After extrusion the billet container (8), Fig. 2 (not shown), is retracted and the discard cut-off by a saw 27 or a sheer blade 29. The discard is allowed to fall out of the press since it does not interfere with the saw or blade operating mechanisms. The press may produce channel sections or tubes.
